Six Reasons to Schedule AC Replacement
What’s stopping you from scheduling an air conditioner replacement this year? Many homeowners in Fairfax, Arlington, Centreville, Reston, and other areas in Northern VA are deterred by the thought of the initial investment without considering the numerous benefits they could start taking advantage of right now.
At John Nugent & Sons, we’ve identified six of the most significant advantages to upgrading to an air conditioner replacement before the scorching summer days arrive:
Reduced Spending
New air conditioner models are designed to run far more efficiently than models that are only a few years old. With an AC replacement, you can expect your monthly cooling costs to go down.
Greater Comfort
Advanced technologies enable new AC units to deliver greater comfort by providing a constant stream of conditioned air, better moisture control, and more even temperatures.
Better Air Quality
Better moisture control means that you and other home occupants will be able to breathe easier because your home will be at a lowered risk for the growth of mold and mildew.
Availability of Tax Credits
Right now is the perfect time to schedule AC replacement because of the availability of an excellent air conditioner tax credit. Through the end of 2013, homeowners in Northern VA and throughout the country can receive a tax credit of up to $500 when they purchase eligible, energy-efficient HVAC equipment.
Dependability
A full AC replacement can provide you peace of mind that your equipment will run reliably and safely for many years to come.
Use of a Friendlier Refrigerant
It’s more than likely that your current AC unit—if it’s at least a few years old—uses the R-22 refrigerant (Freon), which is being phased out by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in response to environmental concerns. Today’s new AC units make use of a more eco-friendly, EPA-refrigerant known as R-410A, or Puron.
Equipment with R-410A is at least five percent more efficient than equipment that uses R-22 refrigerant. R-410A-based compressors also run cooler than R-22 compressors, making R-410A units less likely to overheat and burn out.
